Fact Check: Video Does NOT Show Israeli Minister Ben Gvir Collapsing Upon Learning Of His Wife's Death. Out Of Context

Did a video on social media show Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir collapse upon learning the news of his wife's death? No, that's not true: These videos are old and taken out of context.

The claim appeared in multiple posts like this one (no longer available but archived here) on TikTok on January 13, 2024, which has a banner (translated from Arabic to English by Lead Stories staff) that said:

Ben Gvir, after learning the news of his wife's death.

This is what the post looked like on TikTok at the time of writing:

Upon conducting a reverse image search on Google Lens (archived here), Lead Stories found the original date of this video, posted on July 27, 2021, by Israeli i24 International, (archived here ), showing the then-member of Knesset Ben-Gvir being removed from the podium at the Knesset by security after calling an Arab member of Knesset "Terrorists."

Other posts made the same claim by using a different video (archived here) on TikTok from January 13, 2024, claiming to show Ben Gvir collapsing after finding out that his wife was killed. Lead Stories found the original video by searching for the keywords "Ben Gvir collapses security altercation" in Google to be of an old incident (archived here ) on February 13, 2022, when Ben Gvir collapsed after an altercation with Israeli security at the Sheik Jarrah neighborhood in East Jerusalem. Ben Gvir had posted the original video on his official then-Twitter account (archived here) on the same day.
